Think about the infants and/or toddlers in your care and how they interact and play in your outdoor environment. Answer the following questions. Share your responses with your trainer, coach, or administrator. 

1. How do infants, young toddlers, and toddlers explore the outdoor environment? What skills are they working on (crawling, climbing, pulling to stand, rolling over, reaching and grasping objects, running etc.)
    
2. What types of materials do they interact with outdoors (climbing structures, balls, chalk, paint, etc.)?
    
3. What safety precautions do you need to take based on what you know about the infants and toddlers in your care and how they explore the outdoor environment? How do the ways they grow and explore affect the kinds of injuries they might have outside?
    
4. What can you do to make your outdoor space safer while still letting infants and toddlers play and explore?
