Sarah N. Lang, Ph.D., is the Associate Director of Research & Professional Development for the VLS. She helps to direct research and training initiatives relative to the project. In addition, Sarah currently serves as the lead content creator of VLS, writing courses and editing them based on Military Service reviewers’ feedback and overseeing the development of the Family Child Care track and other writers’ contributions to the project. Dr. Lang earned her B.S. with Honors in Psychology from The Ohio State University and worked for several years as a teacher in both infant-toddler and preschool classrooms. She returned to The Ohio State University and earned her M.S. in Human Ecology, Early Child Development and Education, and her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science with a specialization in College Teaching. Dr. Lang has lead numerous college classes, workshops, and research presentations for pre- and in-service early childhood professionals and researchers. Her more recent research focuses on cocaring, or the relationships between parents and early childhood teachers and care providers. Dr. Lang recognizes the strong impact early childhood professionals have upon children’s trajectories and she loves being part of the VLS because of the support this professional development system provides to these critical members of our society.
