Eliza works on technical and content-related projects for the VLS. Eliza graduated with honors in anthropology and Chinese from The Ohio State University, and wrote her senior honors thesis on communication accommodation theory in Hong Kong. Research for her masters in library science from Kent State University focused on universal standardized subject headings. With ten years’ experience at OCLC--including seven years in marketing communications at OCLC Asia Pacific, and three years as WebDewey product manager where she worked closely with the editors of the Dewey Decimal Classification at the Library of Congress--Eliza enjoys finding efficient ways to find, track, and share information. After seven years’ experience abroad in China and Egypt, Eliza served as OhioLINK project manager for the long-awaited project that implemented EBSCO’s Discovery Layer Service at more than 50 academic libraries in Ohio. Eliza has worked with youth as a K-12 substitute teacher, a librarian in a busy public library, and as a research assistant in preschools and homes. Eliza attended OSU’s original university laboratory school at Campbell Hall, and her elementary teachers instilled a yen for lifelong learning that helped shape her belief that thoughtful, well-trained teachers can have enormous positive micro and macro effects in society. Eliza loves learning about the VLS (and its applications to parenting) and is thrilled for the opportunity to help early childhood educators access it too.
