This eight-lesson course defines challenging behavior and introduces the Pyramid Model as the framework of evidence-based practices used to promote social emotional competence, prevent challenging behaviors and provide individualized supports to children and youth with behavior challenges. The first six lessons in this course build upon staff’s foundational knowledge of developmentally appropriate behaviors and understanding of how to support children’s healthy development while preventing challenging behaviors. The last two lessons in this eight-lesson course are aimed specifically at program leadership.
