Technology in Child Care Programs

Minimize the risk of cyberbullying, prevent exposure to explicit material, and teach digital citizenship

Though technology use can enhance learning and access to information, child care programs must closely supervise and thoughtfully incorporate the use of the internet and devices into program activities. New content in the Safe Environments course in both the Management and Training and Curriculum Specialist tracks provides program leaders with guidance to help direct care staff minimize the risk of cyberbullying, prevent exposure to sexually explicit or violent online material, and support children in becoming model digital citizens. Additionally, new information in the Learning Environments course in the Management and Training and Curriculum Specialist tracks introduces the Three C’s—content, context, and the individual child, all concepts to reflect on when evaluating how your program’s technology use aligns to learning objectives and best practice.
