Giving Staff Voice & Choice: Leadership Strategies that Empower Staff

Program leaders play a critical role in creating a positive, supportive work climate. When leaders engage in practices that foster a strong working environment, it impacts staff motivation, job satisfaction, retention, job performance, and the quality of care that child and youth professionals provide to children and families. As a program leader, you can create supportive contexts that empower staff by intentionally implementing strategies and systems that give staff members voice and choice in the program. In this webinar, we focus on key leadership practices that support and value staff members’ need for autonomy in their work. We identify VLS resources and highlight ways that you can give staff voice and choice by involving them in shared decision-making, providing leadership opportunities, and conducting collaborative performance evaluations.
